Brian Callahan Brian Callahan, Managing Director/CEO, assumes primary responsibility for managing equity placements and market capitalization assignments for Markwood Capital. He is also responsible for the strategic alliance program, technology business combinations and is considered unchallenged in his ability to construct world-class advisory boards.

Prior to co-founding Markwood Capital Alliance, Brian spent over ten years in corporate finance and institutional brokerage with Prudential Bache Securities and Paine Weber. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Riverside and is active as a volunteer contributor to new entrepreneurs and local children’s charities..


Peter Schoenlaub Peter Schoenlaub, Managing Director/COO, provides MCA with its expertise in senior and subordinated debt placements, management buyouts, debt restructuring, and non–technology mergers and acquisitions.

Previously, Peter’s affiliations spanned sixteen years in corporate finance and commercial asset-based lending with Security Pacific and Chase Manhattan. Peter co-founded Markwood Capital after a successful stint with First Chicago Bancorp. He is an Economics graduate of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and is dedicated to serving the Mardan School for Educational Development in Irvine as a board member.


Jim Spear Jim Spear, Senior Partner, is Markwood Capital’s primary resource for management evaluation and forecasting. He has been a principal in multiple management buyouts and overall capital management. His twenty-five years of experience in middle market companies with up to $90 million in sales, and in a wide variety of industries, provides MCA with sophisticated analysis capabilities..

Jim’s background includes senior lending and audit positions with First Chicago and Touche Ross, as well as numerous board positions for both public and private companies. He holds an MBA and a PhD from the University of Chicago and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


Ginny Johnson Ginny Johnson, Vice President, Administration, is responsible for communications, scheduling, and overall transaction management for Markwood Capital. In addition to managing and coordinating all support functions for clients, Ginny provides administrative expertise to internal office matters.

Before joining Markwood Capital, Ginny spent several years as an educator and in the field of real estate finance. Her B.S. degree from the University of Kansas is in English Language Communications.
